Hey everyone! I'm a chicken owner and I'm wondering how much more space I would need to raise pigs.

Everyone I know is telling me not to. Why did you all decide to start raising pigs?

    see this blog http://sugarmtnfarm.com/

Walter Jeffries raises hundreds of swine and chickens together. He has written much on the benefits of having both.

Hopefully Walter will find his way to this forum because he is wonderful at sharing his hard won wisdom. He has also learned that some of the ways old timers and commercial swineherds operate are not best for us small time operators. E.g. he does not castrate and has no problem with off flavored meat. It keeps the pigs happier, keeps him happier, eliminates part of the work load, and some beleive it makes the pigs gain weight faster. A win for all concerned.

I own 2 acres of land and my pigs stay on about 1/4 of it. They have plenty of room. Have four sows and one boar. I sell all the shoats at 6 weeks old
