Pot Bellied Pigs

Has anyone kept pot bellied pigs or raised them for sale to pet shops? I've thought about doing this for a while now, but I fear there may not be much of a market for it. I talked to a local pet store and they said they would allow me to sell them there akin to a consignment deal, but that seems like a lot of risk to start breeding an entirely new breed.

The fad is long gone. Not to say there isn't someone who will by one for a pet, but if I was breeding anything for the pet market, it would be a desirable dog or cat breed.

I remember them being all over the place 20 years ago. I wonder why it burned out?

Did you ever raise them?
I had one. Well my daughter did. If you're looking at boutique animals I would suggest Labradoodles (sp?). See those all over the place.

Nope. I never even saw one except for TV. But 20 years ago I was in the DC suburbs where HOAs are everywhere and do not allow anything other than a dog or cat and maybe something caged like rabbit.
I saw them. My neighbors had one named Poco. It grew quick, and the next thing you know they have a full grown pig living outside.
Wikipedia says 60 - 200 pounds. I guess they are like designer dogs and you can keep them small?
Never had a pot bellied pig. My brother had one quit a few years ago. It wasn't very big so it must have been young, funny thing thought. It go out into some poison ivy and when my brothers girlfriend caught it to bring it in she got poison ivy all over her lol. She was a mess with it all over her arms and face, I don't think I ever laughed so hard lol. If you couldn't tell I couldn't stand her anyway, it served her right. She made my brother get rid of the pig right after that.
I would pass ...

But that is just me ...
That fad has been long gone. I remember seeing them on the streets in the 80's. Thought it was nuts then. Still do.
